This board demonstrates an isolated, high-efficiency synchronous buck converter switch-mode
power supply (SMPS) using the world’s smallest isolators, NVE IsoLoop® MSOP Isolators.
The output is 3.3V at 750 mA.
The board has three channels of isolation to ensure the output is electrically isolated from the
input. A two-channel MSOP-8 isolator isolates synchronous rectification and a single-channel
MSOP-8 isolator isolates output-voltage feedback. MSOP isolators minimize board area.
Despite the compact components, the board has full 2.5 kV isolation and maintains 3 mm creepage.

This Evaluation Board uses the 3.3-to-3.3V version of the world’s smallest isolated DC-to-DC convertor, the ILDC11-15E.
The 1.75 by 1.75 inch (45 by 45 mm) board has an ILDC11-15E plus the three required external bypass capacitors as well as LEDs to show the DC-to-DC convertor is operating. Screw terminals provide easy connections.
The ILDC11 is an ultraminiature one-quarter watt DC-to-DC convertor with 2.5 kV isolation that can be used to generate an isolated 3.3-volt bus supply from a 3.3-volt controller supply.
No additional regulation is required and there is no minimum load. Frequency hopping and shielding reduce EMI, and ferrite beads are not necessary for EMI mitigation.
This Evaluation Board provides a complete isolated four-channel SPI node, plus an isolated 3.3 V to 5 V DC-to-DC convertor using an IL7817VE.
The board provides screw terminals for connections, plus test points for checking voltages and I/O. There are also LEDs to indicate DC-to-DC convertor input and output power. It uses a 2s2p board with thermal vias for optimal thermal performance.
The IL7817V is a high-speed, fully-isolated, data couplers with an integrated, one-quarter watt 3.3 V to 5 V DC-to-DC boost convertor. This level of integration dramatically reduces chip count and board area.
