NVE Introduces 40 Mbps QSOP RS-485 Transceiver
New part billed as the world’s fastest and smallest isolated RS-485 transceiver

IL3685-1 DiagramEDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.—April 21, 2017—NVE Corporation (Nasdaq: NVEC) today introduced the IL3685-1E, an ultrahigh-speed galvanically isolated transceiver in NVE’s ultraminiature QSOP-16 package. The new part is billed as the world’s fastest and smallest isolated RS-485 transceiver.

Features include:
  • 40 Mbps data rate
  • PROFIBUS compliant
  • 2500 VRMS isolation voltage
  • 44000 year barrier life
  • Low EMC footprint
  • Thermal shutdown protection
  • 4 mm by 5 mm low thermal resistance QSOP package

The new device uses NVE’s patented IsoLoop spintronic Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) technology. A unique ceramic/polymer composite barrier provides excellent isolation and virtually unlimited barrier life.

There are now ten members of NVE’s isolated digital transceiver family in various packages, including the unique QSOPs, the industry’s smallest isolated transceivers:

NVE is a leader in the practical commercialization of spintronics, a nanotechnology that relies on electron spin rather than electron charge to acquire, store and transmit information. The company manufactures high-performance spintronic products including sensors and couplers that are used to acquire and transmit data. NVE has also licensed its spintronic magnetoresistive random access memory technology, commonly known as MRAM.
