NVE Earns PROFIBUS Standards Recognition

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--August 8, 2001--NVE Corporation (OTCBB: NVEC) announced it had received PROFIBUS International recognition for its new IsoLoop® galvanic isolator and transceiver family. PROFIBUS is a worldwide communication standard widely used in industrial automation. The recognition is the culmination of months of rigorous testing by NVE, independent testing laboratories and customers.

NVE spokesman Anthony F. Leali, speaking today at the annual meeting of the Profibus Trade Organization said, "The speed of IsoLoops could revolutionize industrial networks. The IL485 PROFIBUS transceiver has a 35 megabaud data rate-ten to 100 times faster than competitive isolators such as those sold by Maxim Integrated Products (Nasdaq: MXIM) and Linear Technology (Nasdaq: LLTC)."

NVE President Daniel A. Baker, Ph.D. added, "Industrial networks are a huge market and one of our key targets. Many large prospects use only PROFIBUS-certified components, so we expect this endorsement to open some important doors for us."

The recognition comes shortly after the family received the prestigious "Product of the Month" award from ChipCenter LLC (ChipCenter's review of NVE's products is available at www.chipcenter.com/analog/products_600-699/prod694.htm).

Isolators are used to connect network nodes. NVE's isolators are based on the company's proprietary giant magnetoresistive (GMR) technology. A monolithic galvanic isolation barrier gives the devices a common mode voltage range of plus-or-minus 2,500 volts, and immunity to ground and signal differentials that would interrupt data transmissions or even destroy non-isolated devices. Detailed product data sheets on the award-winning IsoLoop devices are available at www.isoloop.com.

PROFIBUS is a vendor-independent, open field bus standard for a wide range of applications in industrial automation. Industrial automation is a $150 billion market, according to data from Reed Elsevier Inc. of Norwalk, Conn. More than six million nodes of Profibus-certified parts have been installed worldwide. PROFIBUS International is the world's largest industrial communication organization. More information on the PROFIBUS organization and standard is available at www.profibus.com.

NVE designs and manufactures isolator and sensor components with the potential to revolutionize data transfer. Its devices allow networks to run at much higher speeds than otherwise possible and unprecedented precision in industrial control and robotics.
